Chapter 6-Korey Allen

Personal Networking and Its Importance - Building Your Website - Strikingly

Chapter 6 of the book The Connected Educator shows us the importance of building networks and collaborative learning communities. In the book the author emphasizes the need for personal learning networks (PLNs) to drive professional growth and organizational change. She shows how online platforms and social media serve as tools for educators to connect, share ideas, and access resources, paving the way for innovative solutions. The connection I can make from chapter 6 for my future career is the tactics and the cooperative style of law enforcement for someone like me who wants to make my career as an FBI agent. The FBI depends on a wide range of knowledge and coordination. For example, engaging with experts in cybercrime or international law through online platforms can better an agent’s skill set and keep them informed about the latest developments in the field. Also the ability to quickly adapt to emerging technologies or new criminal techniques is crucial in maintaining national security. Staying connected with other law enforcement professionals and participating in online meetings or groups could provide insights and share real life experiences that would otherwise be challenging to access. My question for the readers of my blog is: How do you see the concept of a personal learning network applying to your own career aspirations or current professional environment?

  2. I love your image explaining the importance of building networks and collaborative learning communities. It interested me to see that an FBI Agent has such a wide platform as well. I never really thought of an FBI agent having to have computer proficiency skills. I just saw the FBI as first responders who go out in the field, hands-on action people.
